Brookline Reservoir Cold Front Night Fishing

Caught 8 largemouth ranging from 11in to 18 in. Was using Texas rigged Yamasenko in black, and black jointed jitterbug (3/8).

When I got there, it was very windy...

Caught a little guy around 1AM. Had a bunch of small and big bites but was having a hard time setting the hook, partially due to the fact that it was pitch black and I had no idea how much slack was out. Then I hit an 18 incher just 7 or so feet off from the shore (or so it seemed). It was a very light bite that I could hardly feel... Not the typical tugtugtug, but more of a lure snagging lightly on a branch at the bottom type of feel... I set anyway, and for the first few seconds, thought I had a big branch as the fish wasn't really fighting. Then he broke the surface, and I knew I had a decent sized one.

Around 2AM, the wind stopped and within minutes, it was super calm out. I could see big splashes from where the fish were chasing something up to the top. I cut my senko off, tied on my jitterbug and went to town. It was so dark and the clouds were covering the moon, so there were a lot of short strikes. Unlike other nights, these fish would hit once and once they felt the hardness of the bait, or the hooks, they stopped hitting it. I kept walking around the reservoir, hitting calm spots off the shore.

Finally, a street lamp turned on and I could see a little. I think the fish could see a little better too because I caught 6 ranging from 13 in. to 17 in.; hit after hit after hit after hit. This went on until about 4AM when I decided to call it quits after about a half hour of silence.

Definitely felt like a fall bite this evening... And now I need to hit the hay.
